Wejia Jia is a Chinese scientist and an academic. He is an IEEE fellow[1], the Chair Professor at Beijing Normal University and Beijing Normal–Hong Kong Baptist University[2], and was part of the world's top 2% scientists list.[3] Additionally, he received the Best Product Award of the China Hi-Tech Fair.[4]

Education

Jia earned his BS in Computer Science from Central South University in 1982, followed by an MSc in Computer Science from the same institution in 1984. He later completed an MSc in Applied Science at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Mons (formerly Faculty Polytechnique de Mons) in 1992,[2] and subsequently obtained his PhD from the same institution in 1993.

Research

Jia’s research spans core areas of computer science[5] and engineering,[6] with a particular focus on artificial intelligence algorithms,[7] smart city applications,[8] 5G Internet of Things (IoT),[9] next-generation networking[10] and communications,[11] and edge computing.[12]

Jia’s research also involves interdisciplinary projects, focusing on theory and practical system development to address emerging challenges in distributed and intelligent computing.[13][14] His work on AI algorithms and networking has contributed to both research and applied technologies for large-scale intelligent systems.[8][15]

Additionally, Jia’s work also includes analytical reviews[16] and frameworks in edge intelligence[17] and collaborative inference for heterogeneous devices.[18]
