Wendy Maitland is an American entrepreneur and real estate broker. She currently owns Atelier by Wendy Maitland (Atelier WM LLC), the real estate brokerage firm she founded, for which she serves as CEO and broker of record.[1]
Early life and education
Born in the Hudson River Valley in Rhinebeck, New York, Wendy was raised on the property of her family’s health retreat, called Pawling Health Manor.[2][3] Controversial at the time for her parents’ practice of vegetarianism and water fasting, numerous guests gained health, rapidly lost weight, and changed their lives and health under the supervision of Wendy’s late father, former prize fighter Dr. Robert R. Gross.[2][4] In high school, Wendy spent years living in Paris before she moved to New York to attend New York University.[5]
Career
Wendy began her career as a psychoanalytic psychotherapist which she practiced for 12 years.[3] As a mother with two children, Wendy was growing out of her apartment and began to purchase, renovate, and sell apartments, sparking her career in real estate.[3] Maitland served as senior vice president at Brown Harris Stevens until 2010 where she joined Town Residential as one of the firm's founders.[6] In 2013 and during Wendy's tenure as president of sales, Town Residential exceeded the $1 billion mark in closed sales through the first 3 quarters of the year.[7] In 2006, Wendy broke the record at the time of a sale of a New York townhouse with the highest price per square foot totaling over $4,200 at Town Residential.[6] Some of Maitland's notable clients have included Bruce Willis, Madonna, Woody Allen, and Jon Voight.[1]
Personal life
Maitland finds inspiration in a photo of boxing champ Muhammad Ali. Her father was a prize fighter who took her to see a heavyweight championship fight for her 16th birthday. Wendy kept the tradition going by taking her son to see the Floyd Mayweather - Marcos Maidana match in Las Vegas.[3]
