Education

Wendy Watson-Wright holds three degrees from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, including a Ph.D. in Physiology.[2]

Career

Watson-Wright is currently a member of the United Nations Joint Group of Experts on the Scientific Aspects of Marine Environmental Protection (GESAMP). She was the inaugural Chief Executive Officer of the Ocean Frontier Institute (OFI) in Halifax (2016-2019)[3]. She was also the first female Executive Secretary and Assistant Director General of UNESCO’s Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC-UNESCO) in Paris (2010-2015)[4]. Prior to that, she held various leadership positions in the Canadian public service, including as Assistant Deputy Minister, Science, for Fisheries and Oceans Canada in Ottawa (2001-2009)[5]
