Werley Nortreus was born on November 10th, 1993, in Limbé, Haiti, near Cap- Haïtien.[1]. He is a Haitian musical artist, author[2], writer, entrepreneur, and a politician. He founded a political party called Vanyan Sòlda Ayiti and a Human-Rights/Activism movement called Haitians lives Matter that is fighting for equal human rights and justice[3].

Early Life[edit]

Werley Nortreus was born in Limbé, Haiti, but he was raised and grew up in Port-Au-Prince, the capital of Haiti. He had most of his studies in Port-Au-Prince until after the 2010 Haiti earthquake before he became he writer[4].

Personal life[edit]

Werley Nortreus survived the 2010 Haiti earthquake and told he was in his room when the earthquake hit Haiti while remembering the earthquake[5]. He released his first book in 2012 and released his second book called Best Quotes of Werley Nortreus in 2017[6]. He is the founder and CEO of Ceraphin Corporation that launched and own media organizations[7].

Politics[edit]

Werley Nortreus has contributed towards political movements and activism activities like Haitians Lives Matter and Black Lives Matter movements for years when he spoke about police brutality and injustice[8]. The Haitians Lives Matter movement that he founded has contributed and participated in rallies based on discrimination and racism towards people of color in America and around the world[9].

Werley Nortreus is also the founder of Vanyan Sòlda Ayiti, a political party that was founded in Cap-Haïtien that got involved in politics in Haiti and America. The party Vanyan Sòlda Ayiti fights for justice and for a better Haiti as he spoke about kidnapping crisis in 2020[10]. His party got involved in rallies and protests across Haiti[11].

Political remarks[edit]

According to News Ghana, Werley Nortreus joined the opposition in Haiti in 2018 and gave his remarks about the presidency of the former President of Haiti Michel Martelly and current President of Haiti Jovenel Moise[12].

In 2020, Werley Nortreus was the first teen who declared his running for a Presidential nomination bid in Haiti[13].

Haiti protests[edit]

During the 2018-2019 Haitian protests, Werley Nortreus defended Haiti and Venezuela when he became a voice for the Haitians who demanded details about the PetroCaribe money and the resignation of President Jovenel Moise[14]. The Haitian Government demanded dialogue at the time but he rejected dialogue requests after launching the 'Choice Is Yours'[15].

During the protests across Haiti about PetroCaribe in 2019, Werley Nortreus said a famous speech on Bon Déjeuner! Radio about slavery that still exists these days and about how they are punishing Haitians for 1804. His speech was also based about how Haiti can't make progress because they don't want Haiti to be prosperous[16].

Chapel fire reaction[edit]

Werley Nortreus was not a voice only during the PetroCaribe protests, he was also a voice for Milot when a fire destroyed the Royal Chapel of Milot monument in April 2020[18]. After the dome of the Chapel collapsed, he and other leaders in Milot spoke out about the situation[19].

On April 13th, 2020, hours later after the fire destroyed the Royal Chapel of Milot. He spoke out about this situation and demanded an investigation[20]. After his citations, thousand of people are making quote them.

Music career[edit]

Werley Nortreus first experience in singing was at the age of 6 years old. He was the founder and lead singer of TMG, he rap group that he started in 2007. He released his first studio album called 'Li Se Bondye' in 2012[23]. He released his fourth studio album called '1993: Birth of Paradise & Romance, Vol. 1' in 2019[24] and this album was granted an awards from Atlas Elite Entertainment for a song called Dear Ancestors that was selected in a music competition in 2018[25].

Werley Nortreus's fourth album called '1993: Birth of Paradise & Romance, Vol. 1' was listed by Bon Déjeuner! Radio as the best new album of 2019[26]. After the listing, he announced his fifth album called '1993: Birth of Paradise & Romance, Vol. 2' that is coming out in stores in 2020[27]
