West Wingers: Stories from the Dream Chasers, Change Makers, and Hope Creators Inside the Obama White House is a collection of memoirs edited by Gautam Raghavan. It was published in October 2018 by Random House under their Penguin Books imprint. In the book, 18 former White House staffers contributed one chapter each, discussing their experience and reflections on working during the Obama administration. Authors include Michael Strautmanis, Leah Katz-Hernandez, Brad Jenkins, Heather Foster, Cecilia Muñoz, Hope Hall, Michael J. Robertson, Raina Thiele, Lynn Rosenthal, Bill Yosses, Darienne Page, Deesha Dyer, Ned Price, Julie Chávez Rodriguez, Rumana Ahmed, Stephanie Valencia and Aneesh Raman (in addition to Raghavan). The book has received praise from people including Valerie Jarrett, Van Jones[1] and Vice President Joe Biden. Biden called the book "exceptional" and wrote "We have so much to learn from these stories."

Oprah Magazine included West Wingers in a list entitled "14 Political Books to Read Before Heading to the Polls,"[2] reflecting the timeliness of the book leading up to the 2018 midterm elections. Several of the book's authors have been touring the U.S. since publication, speaking at universities including Georgetown, Boston College, and Harvard Kennedy School's Institute of Politics.[3] Other press coverage has included New York Post,[4] American Bazaar,[5] and Forbes.[6]

A broad range of subjects are covered in different chapters of the book. Subjects include LGBTQ rights, Muslim Americans, Indian Americans, Native Alaskans, women's rights, veterans' rights, immigrants' rights, Cuba-United States relations, and use of comedy in policymaking. Certain policy efforts of the Obama Administration, such as efforts to roll out the Affordable Care Act, are also discussed.

To coincide with the book's publication, Raghavan penned an essay in Forbes in which he summarized the book's purpose:

"In West Wingers, my colleagues and I have attempted to capture the essence of the Obama White House. It is a collection of stories capturing moments, big and small, throughout his presidency – each of us seeing and reflecting back our unique perspective to create something meaningful. It is a testament to the saying “people are policy,” proof of the importance and impact of everyone having a seat at the table. And perhaps most of all, it is meant to be a roadmap to inspire anyone who shares President Obama's call to service."[7]

Proceeds of the book are going to support the launch of a new Hope Incubator.[8]
