West Wolds Radio was a community radio station broadcasting to the Pocklington area of the East Riding of Yorkshire, England.

The station was awarded a licence to provide a community radio service to the town of around 8,800 people in the town of Pocklington and the nearby villages of Barmby Moor, Allerthorpe, Hayton and Burnby[1] and began broadcasting on 29 November 2015 and was available online and on FM on 103.1 MHz.[2]

In April 2016, the station announced plans to close due to insufficient funding, saying "“West Wolds Radio has not managed to attract sustainable funding through advertising or sponsorship from the local community, which would normally be the route expected of a service such as this. Start-up and initial operating costs were covered through a long-term loan but the station directors were concerned that the station would struggle to meet repayment costs unless external funding was brought in.”[3]

The station was rescued by management and kept on air for another five months but finally closed down at the end of September 2016, having been on air for less that a year. The main reason cited for closure was a lack of people willing to help out at the station, meaning that the station was unable to fulfil Ofcom Key Commitments.[4][5]

The Pocklington area is now covered by nearby Vixen 101 which is based in the nearby town of Market Weighton.[6]
