Weston Coppola Cage (born December 26, 1990) is an American musician and actor, as well as the son of actor Nicolas Cage. He is known for his part in the bands Arsh Anubis and Eyes of Noctum as well as his solo musical career.
Early life and family[edit]
Cage was born in Los Angeles, California in 1990 to actor Nicolas Cage and Christina Fulton.[1] He was raised in Hollywood around many famous celebrities, including Jim Carrey, Ozzy Osbourne, and Cary Elwes thanks to his famous lineage.[2]
Career[edit]
Music[edit]
In 2008, at the age of 14 he formed American black metal band Eyes of Noctum, adopting the stage name Arcane. Cage served as the band's lead vocalist, with Shawn Smocke (Moloch) on Bass, Ryan Schroeder (Templar) on keyboards, Brendon Schroeder (Donner) on Drums, and Asmodeus (Real Name Unknown) on Guitars. In 2009, Asmodeus was replaced by Andy Kireitov (Vardar) and Jesse Wroe (Neboran) on rhythm guitars and lead guitars respectively. The band produced one album, Inceptum in 2009. Moloch and Templar departed the band in 2010, and the band officially split up in 2012.
In 2011, Cage formed another black metal band, Arsh Anubis. The band's name means "Anubis' Throne" in Arabic. Cage once again serves as the lead vocalist of the band, as well as the keyboardist. Soufiane Elyamouni (Apophis) joined the band on Bass in 2011. In 2012, Ismail Ennaim joined on Drums and Alhussain Sherif on Guitars. The band produced their first demo album, Anubis' Army Guided by Hades in 2012. In 2013, Ismail Ennaim was replaced on Drums by Daniel Collabolletta (Troll). The band's first full-length album, Netherworld Oracles was released in 2015. As of 2021, no announcement has been made of an official split for the band, but they have been largely inactive due to Cage's career shift into acting.[3]
Cage has also had several solo side projects over the years. His first solo appearance was as a featured vocalist on Dynasty of Darkness' track "Diuum Deus" from their album Empire of Pain. He then released his own solo single in 2014 titled "Tell Me Why (Matriarch of Misery)". In 2015 he released a full solo album titled Prehistoric Technology.[4]
Acting[edit]
Throughout his early life, Cage made several minor appearances in various films. His first on-screen appearance was in the film Lord of War, starring his father, as a helicopter mechanic named Vladimir. Since he has appeared in 2 other films starring Nicolas Cage, including 211 and Rage. In Rage he portrayed a younger version of his father's character. Other notable appearances include D-Day: Battle of Omaha Beach, Get Gone, and Fear and Loathing in Aspen.
