Wilfred "Johnny"[2] Johnson DFC (born Osman Wilfred Kemal; September 4, 1909 – May 10, 1992) was a Royal Air Force pilot, hill farmer, and the grandfather of British Prime Minister Boris Johnson. Born in 1909 to Ali Kemal, an interior minister of the Ottoman Empire, and his Anglo-Swiss wife Winifred Brun who died during childbirth, Johnson was raised in the United Kingdom by his English grandmother Margaret Johnson, whose surname he later adopted.
He met his wife Irene Williams in Egypt in 1936, and served as a fighter pilot in World War II. Following the war, he worked as a farmer in Devon.[3]
