Will Save the Podcast is an actual play podcast featuring the Starfinder Roleplaying Game by Paizo Publishing. The first episode was released on February 3rd, 2021 with their first campaign running The Threefold Conspiracy Adventure Path. That campaign is ongoing, supplemented by homebrew content and side adventures (including a Paizo Standalone Adventure, Junker's Delight) to expand the Will Save lore beyond the source material from Paizo. Will Save the Podcast has also collaborated with other Actual Play podcasts such as Emergency Power Podcast, The STF Network, and No Quest for the Wicked in a variety of adventures using multiple gaming systems.
History
Jon Swan and Vinnie Rodriguez were neighbors and friends from an early age. They grew up playing Dungeons and Dragons with Jon's dad. They have an ongoing game with a group of childhood friends that has been running for over two decades. Kevin Decker met Jon Swan in a MATLAB course at University of Southern California and became fast friends. When Jon learned that Kevin had only started playing Table Top Role Play Games (TTRPG) recently, he was easily coerced to run a game of D&D 5E. Jon invited his girlfriend's best friend's husband, Will Garrett, to join Kevin and their friend Nick Belcher. Will also invited his coworker, Kelly Gilliam. The group would meet in Will's garage and work together to defeat Kobolds and baby dragons as Jon GMed them through a hybrid of his favorite D&D campaigns.
In 2022, Nick Belcher decided to step away from Will Save the Podcast. This left Kevin, Will, and Kelly at a disadvantage against Jon's malicious GMing. They continued the show without Nick while also looking for someone to fill the role. Jon brought this up in a conversation with Vinnie, who had been following the show, and Vinnie was open to audition. Vinnie played a single test session with the group and immediately offered a role. Vinnie has been an integral member of Will Save the Podcast ever since, contributing to audio and video production, GMing a session of Old Gods of Appalachia, and other aspects of Will Save the Podcast as a business.
