William Azzalino

William John Azzalino is a Nationally awarded developmental architect. He was born April 1st, 1950 in South Western Wisconsin to the parents of John and Viola Azzalino. His father was a teacher and outdoors mans who taught him to appreciate and respect nature through camping, fishing and hunting. This upbringing inspired him to have an environmentally focused approach to architecture throughout his career. He completed his first house design for his drafting teacher and had it built at age 14.

He started his first business to put himself though Architecture college, called WA Painting and Decorating. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a Bachelors of Science in 1972 and a Masters of Architecture, Magna Cum Laude, in 1974. Once he graduated, NCARB certified, he began expanding his architecture career by moving to Toronto, Canada in 1975. He started his first architecture firm in 1982, called Govan Azzalino Architects, Ltd out of Toronto. Leading as the CEO he was able to expand his business experience and began delving into venture capital. He has worked with many different companies to turnaround and grow new and existing business models.

He has been the subject of many publications and awards, including but not limited too, Who’s Who in Leading Canadian Executives, Who’s Who in Canadian Architecture, Who’s Who in Leading US Executives, Markham Retail Center Award and Inner City Healthcare, Milwaukee: A case study. He is also a former member of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada, Ontario Association of Architects, British Columbia Institute of Architects. As well as a current member of American Institute of Architects.

In his architecture career William received the Environmental Design Award for utilizing passive solar heating and natural cooling, green plant oxygenation of the interior air, ground source heat pump cooling/heating, and energy mass storage wall. As well as the BOMA National Design Award for Mid-Rise Office Buildings – 25 years, Design and operating efficiencies. All of this work was undertaken, designed and completed more than 20 years before LEED was created. He calls himself "an early innovator of responsible, green building."

In the late 1980's, Williams saw the economy of Toronto changing and decided to relocate to Newport Beach, California in 1990, to pursue other business ventures and broaden his architecture portfolio. He continued to expand GAA until 1999, when he joined HFS Concepts 4, Inc as the COO, Managing Director and Executive Director of Architecture and Interior Design. HFS Architecture firm specialized in hospitality design and construction. Mr Azzalino and the HFS firm won numerous design awards for work in the United States, Canada, and internationally.

He has also been on the board of directors for many different tech, environmental and health related ventures. Some of which are Envirotech Green, Inc., Ecotech EOR LLC, Balboa Pacific Corporation, Advanced Medical Devices and the Trylon Corporation. Throughout his many years of venture capital and managing architecture firms he was able to connect with scientist and developers from around the world. As an environmentally passionate developer himself, he start working with multiple industries to work towards lowering emissions on a global scale. in 2010 he left the HFS firm to be actively involved in fundraising and managing an Eco-responsible technology company, while still pursuing his Architectural career part-time.
