William Christian Hackett, or W. C. Hackett (born 1979) is an American Catholic novelist, philosopher, and translator. He is the author of Outside the Gates, which was awarded an honorable mention at the Catholic Media Association Book Awards.[1] The novel, a "philosophical thriller,"[2] retells the true story of Jewish philosopher Jean Wahl's escape from Drancy Internment Camp and underground flight to the Free zone during the German Occupation of France in 1941.[3]

Hackett is a professor of philosophy at Saint Meinrad Seminary and School of Theology in St. Meinrad, Indiana.[4] From 2012 to 2017, he was a research fellow and lecturer in philosophy at the Australian Catholic University with a concurrent appointment to the Institute for Critical Inquiry in Religion. Hackett was a research student of John Milbank at the University of Nottingham and of Kevin Hart at the University of Virginia, where he completed his doctorate in 2011. A staunchly Post-secular thinker, his theoretical writings seek to rearticulate Christian religious vision by showing that what we perceive as true is contingent on our narrative-substructured beliefs in the possible.[5]
