[1] is a United States Army Major General and the Commanding General of the District of Columbia National Guard. He commands the District of Columbia Army and Air National Guard and is responsible for the strategic leadership, readiness and employment of all District of Columbia Army and Air National Guard units. [2]Prior senior leadership assignments include Commander, Joint Task Force - District of Columbia, 58th Presidential Inauguration; Commander, Land Component Command and Commander, Mobilization Augmentation Command; Chief of Staff, District of Columbia Army National Guard; Chief, Theater Observation Detachment Afghanistan and Senior Liaison to the Commander, International Security Assistance Force, Afghanistan for the Center for Army Lessons Learned; Vice J-2, National Guard Bureau and Commander, Brigade Joint Task Force - Jamaica.[3]

Walker is a native of Chicago, Illinois. He graduated from St. Sabina Elementary School and Leo Catholic High School.[4]

Education[edit]
General Walker was educated at the University of Illinois (BA), Chicago State University (MS), the National Intelligence University (MS) and American University (MA). He completed the National and International Security Program for Senior Executives at Harvard University; National Security Studies Programs at George Washington University and Syracuse University; the Homeland Defense and Security, Executive Leader’s Program at the Naval Post Graduate School and the Seminar XXI International Relations Fellowship at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. General Walker is a graduate of the Military Intelligence and Civil Affairs Officer Advance Courses, the Command and General Staff College, the Inter-American Defense War College, the Joint Task Force Commander’s Course, the Joint and Combined War-fighting School and the Dual Status Commander’s Course. He is a level III Joint Qualified Officer.
Walker has received the following degrees: Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts and Sciences from the University of Illinois at Chicago, Master of Science in Criminal Justice from Chicago State University, Master of Science in Strategic Intelligence from the National Intelligence University, and Master of Arts in International Service from the American University.
Civic and Community Engagement[edit]
General Walker is the Vice Chairman, Board of Directors of the Young Marines, a military affiliated service organization for boys and girls ages 8 through high school that provides developmental programs that encourages its 10,000 members into becoming responsible citizens who enjoy a drug-free lifestyle. In 2014 he retired from civilian federal service as a career special agent of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). Promoted to the Senior Executive Service rank in 2003 and appointed a Senior National Intelligence Service Officer in the Office of the Director of National Intelligence in 2009, his final assignment was Deputy Assistant Administrator in Charge of Strategic Warning, DEA Intelligence Division.[5]
He is also an active life member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.[6]
