William L Howatt

William L. Howatt is a Township Commissioner in Hanover Township Pennsylvania. He served as Police Chief in Hanover Township for nearly 20 years. He began his career as a patrolman in 1967 and was promoted to lieutenant in 1976. He then took over as chief in 1991. Overall, he served the department for 42 years.

In addition to his duties as chief, Howatt also served as President of the Pennsylvania Chiefs of Police Association from 2008 to 2009, a past president of the Northeast Chiefs of Police Association, a past president of the Luzerne County Chiefs of Police Association and a past president of Wyoming Valley Lodge 36 Fraternal Order of Police, where he was instrumental in the lodge's construction. Howatt also served as the past president of the Crime Clinic of Wyoming Valley and on the Pennsylvania Chiefs of Police Association Executive Board.[1]
