William Retlaw Williams

William Retlaw Jefferson Williams (c. 1863 – 20 March 1944) was a Welsh writer, solicitor, genealogist, and historian.[1]

Life[edit]

He was born in Aberclydach, Brecknockshire in 1863. He ran a genealogical business and became a solicitor in 1884. From 1895 to 1901 he published books on the history of Wales and several English counties. He left notes for an unfinished book about the parliamentary history of Ireland. He died on 20 March 1944 and was buried at Llansanffraid churchyard.[1]

Personal life[edit]

His father John James Williams was a surgeon and a captain of the 1st Brecknockshire Rifle Volunteers. He had three siblings including Welsh writer Alice Matilda Langland Williams.[1]
