The music style of Wolfgang-Andreas Schultz has been characterized by John Borstlap:

[...] his work signifies a profound change in compositional thinking in contemporary Germany. [...] Schultz has experimented with an idea of returning to traditional compositional practice from an overall vision of total integration of different cultural frameworks in terms of historical periods and geography. In this holistic music, elements from Western tonal traditions, modernist atonalism, and Eastern traditions, are synthesized according to a complex technique that is determined by a psychological and spiritual vision.[1]
