Woolley and Wallis is a British auction house based in Salisbury, Wiltshire, England. Established in 1884, it is one of the leading regional auctioneers in the United Kingdom [1], specialising in fine art, antiques, and jewellery.
History
Woolley and Wallis was founded in 1884 as an auctioneers and estate agents. In 1994, the estate agents and auctioneers split and became separate organisations, operating under the same name. Over the years, the auctioneers expanded its operations to include specialist departments in Asian Art, Jewellery, Paintings, Furniture and Silver.
The company operates from premises on Castle Street, Salisbury, with galleries in Old Sarum, Salisbury, and an office on Clifford Street, Mayfair, London, which opened in 2016.

Notable sales
- In 1915, Woolley & Wallis acted as the agents in the sale of Stonehenge for £6,600 to Sir Cecil Chubb. Three years later, Sir Cecil gave Stonehenge to The Crown.[2]
- In 2010, a Qianlong jade figure of a buffalo sold for £3.4million, a UK landmark auction price outside of London.[3]
- In 2011, an Imperial Qing Dynasty jade teapot sold for £1.75million.[4]
- In 2012, a pair of natural pearl earrings sold for £1.6million, believed to have descended from King Carol II of Romania.[5]
- In 2019, an important early-American teapot was rediscovered and sold for £460,000 to the Metropolitan Museum, New York.[6]
- In 2022, Woolley & Wallis sold selected contents from Exbury House, Hampshire, home of the Rothschild family, which totalled nearly £1.4million[7]
