[4]
History
Workana was co-founded in April 2012 by Fernando Fornales, Guillermo Bracciaforte, Mariano Iglesias and Tomas O'Farrell[5]
In June of 2012, Workana graduated from the NXTP Labs acceleration program. Two months after its launch, the company attracted 20,000 workers and attracted over 600 projects, each receiving an average of 20 bids. The platform is available in English, Portuguese, and Spanish.[6]
Since winning the TNW Latin America Startup Battle in 2012, Workana made a huge decision to expand in Brazil. Two months later, the company’s transaction volume increased by up to 45% in Brazil alone.[7]
In November 2012, Evenbase, DMGT’s employment division announced their $500,000 investment with Workana.[8]
In 2016, Workana became one of the recipients of the Google Launchpad Accelerator Program. This program is designed to help startup companies to produce great products.[9] The program offers intensive mentoring programs to startups from all over the world. For six months, Google worked closely with Workana to provide equity support, training, PR support, and credits for Google products. Workana belongs to the third batch of the Accelerator program, which represented Argentina, along with TiendaNube and YOP respectively. [10]
In 2018, Workana received seven million dollars worth of investment from SEEK, an Australian job platform. It aims to help the company expand in Southeast Asia, and strengthen operations in Latin America. At present, SEEK has invested $12.5 million to date.[11] [12]
Partnerships
Transpay announced that they have been selected by Workana to process payment transfers of users in Latin America, Spain, and the United States. Freelancers can now be paid with their local currency and sent straight to their bank accounts.[13]
July 31, 2019. Workana signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with SMITA Malaysia (SME International Trade Association of Malaysia).
