WorldHotels AG, established in 1970, is a collection of independent hotels. The brand has 300 hotels in their collections in 50 different countries.[1]
Company history[edit]
In 1970, the Frankfurt-based Steigenberger Hotel Group launched a reservation system to help Europe's independent hotels compete in an increasingly aggressive global market. After almost 30 years, in 1998, the company changed its name to SRS-WorldHotels.
The organisation was rebranded once again in 2005, and became WorldHotels.[2][3] In 2017, WorldHotels was acquired by Associated Luxury Hotels, the parent company of Associated Luxury Hotels International (ALHI).[4] After 2 years of working with ALHI, WorldHotels was acquired by Best Western[5][6] in 2019.
Collections[edit]
Hotels are classified into three different collections[7] depending on the hotels characteristics and features:
- Distinctive (upscale hotels)
- Elite (upper upscale properties)
- Luxury (recognized local landmark)
