World Orphans is a 501(c)(3) Christian organization based in Castle Rock, Colorado and was founded in 1993 by Troy Wiseman for the rescue and care of orphaned and abandoned children in developing countries.[1][2][3] In 2007, World Orphans detected fraud in its Zambia operations, finding none of them existed. In a subsequent review of 53 of its 400 operations, it found that approximately half did not fit the mission statement and that 20 were outright frauds. It then reformed its organization and facilities and again began seeking donations.[3] World Ophans was part of the 2010 Haiti earthquake disaster Christian Haiti Orphan Response Team.[4]

Mission[edit]

The stated mission of World Orphans is to equip, inspire, and mobilize the church to care for orphans and vulnerable children.[1]
