The day was chosen to commemorate Ivy Lee, the founder of modern public relations who was born on July 16, 1877.[2][3]
The first World PR Day was held on June 16, 2021.[4][5] The day is observed by professionals across the world and is certified by bodies like the Public Relations and Communications Association,[6] and Chartered Institute of Public Relations.[7]
