World Trade Center Kabul
The World Trade Center Kabul is a non-profit business organization located in a building complex in the Taimani neighborhood of Kabul, Afghanistan. It was officially inaugurated in 2020, and serves as a headquarters for trading companies across the globe. Since the events of the Taliban takeover in 2022, the company has remained mostly dormant. Currently, it is no longer a member of the World Trade Centers Association.[1]
It is a corporate partner of the nearby Azizi Bank.[2]
Origins
The office building was opened in September 2003 by local businessman Aziz Sadat. It was notable for being one of the first reconditioned buildings within Kabul.[3] In 2008, a cofounder said it was a humble operation but encouraged development of international business relationships.[4]
Sadat was also chairman of Afghanistan National Institute for Peace and Justice.[5] His organization partnered with the World Trade Centers Association to officially register Kabul's branch of the World Trade Center.[1][6]
Operations
The World Trade Center Kabul is responsible for connecting traders to over 90 countries, 320 cities, and a community of approximately one million members.[2]
