Wu Yongning (died November 8, 2017) was a 26-year-old Chinese dare-devil climber and social media star who became famous for Weibo posts of selfie-videos and photos from atop skyscrapers he climbed without safety equipment.[1] His last outing was at the 62-story Huayuan Hua Centre, in Changsha, Hunan Province. Hanging from the rim of the building, he attempted pull-ups as a stunt. After doing several, he found himself without the strength to pull himself back up. He struggled to do so while attempting to use his feet against the face of the building, but found the surface too slippery. After some time, he ran out of strength and could not hold on any longer, falling to his death.[2] He filmed this last climb, and the clip of his fall was posted on the internet several days later. According to police, he did not fall the full height of the building, but rather landed on a terrace 45 feet below.[3] At the time of his death, he had gained over 60,000 followers to his Weibo account,[4] and had posted videos and photos from over 300 capers.[5]
