WUZZUF (Arabic: وظف‎; lit: "to employ") is an Egyptian employment website and recruitment platform, launched in 2011 as an online service operated by Basharsoft.[2]

History

BasharSoft launched WUZZUF in January, 2011 – a week prior to the Egyptian revolution – during which the company struggled with operating due to the negative external factors that existed at the time. Despite bootstrapping, the company almost shut down twice, until reaching a state of positive cash flow in 2013.[2]

In 2014, WUZZUF began pursuing funding through Venture rounds, and as of July 2018, the company raised $7.9 million.[5] WUZZUF's investors include 500 Startups[6] – where WUZZUF was the first startup from Egypt to join their accelerator program in Silicon Valley[7] – and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).[8]
