XY - The Persistent Company
XY - The Persistent Company (formerly known as XY - The Findables Company) is an American technology company located in San Diego, California.[1] The company was founded in 2012 by Arie Trouw.[2] This private company produces Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and Global Positioning System (GPS) finders used to track keys, phones and other lost items. The offerings include XY4+ and XYGPS.[3]
Company history
XY - The Persistent Company was co-founded in 2012 by Arie Trouw under the name Ength Degree LLC. The founder intended to create a better location network than GPS, which faces accuracy problems due to spoofing. In May 2016, it received its Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Regulation A+ Offering and changed its name to XY-The Findables Company.[2]
XY – The Persistent Company is the parent company of XYO Network. In 2018, the company opened XY Labs, an innovation center for XYO Network.[4] Since 2018, the company has partnered with companies to build location based technology capabilities including FedEx Institute of Technology,[5] Esri,[6] DRVR and RE/MAX Mexico.[7] In December 2018, the company changed its name to XY – The Persistent Company.[1]
In 2019, the company appointed Marcus Delano East of National Geographic; Kai Keller from World Economic Forum; and industry expert Ken Au to its Advisory Board.[8] As of February 2019, it has more than 70 full-time employees, including off-site developers in New York, Carlsbad and Sacramento. The company is a member of the mobility open blockchain initiative (MOBI)[9] and the Blockchain in Transport Alliance (BiTA).[10]
Technology
XY – The Persistent Company uses XYO Network, a technology that employs bluetooth tracking devices and sentinels to gather data, bridges to relay that data to archivists that store it on a blockchain, while diviners serve as oracles. The two sentinels and bluetooth tracking devices can use relative location data to verify where the other item is. They can also measure sound, light and temperature.[11]
