Xavier Aiolfi is an expert and French author born on 8 April 1970 in Boulogne-Billancourt. He is currently living in Bavaria, Germany.

Biography[edit]

Xavier Aiolfi's father comes from an ancient Lombardy family and his mother from a Parisian business family. His father, Gian Aiolfi, was General Manager of the Caisse des Cadres du Bâtiment and President of a Commission of the French National Employers' Council (CNPF). He died in a plane crash in August 1994.

After completing his secondary education as a boarder at the Saint-Martin-de-France School, Xavier Aiolfi joined the Law Training and Research Unit of the University of Paris Descartes (Paris-V, Malakov) where he obtained a diploma of general university studies (DEUG).

Professional life[edit]

(Q3064976) the company "ARMUR" dealing with the sale of historical and military souvenirs. It was at this time that Xavier Aiolfi became the exclusive expert for Europe for the Canadian billionaire Ben Weider, founder of the International Napoleonic Society[1] and author of several works on the poisoning of Napoléon Ier. Ben Weider has assembled a very important collection of personal memorabilia of Napoléon I and the imperial family. This collection has been bequeathed to the city of Montréal.

In january 2004, he launched Lecture pour tous,[2][3] the first monthly literary news magazine distributed free of charge in the Paris metro. The monthly magazine will have a circulation of 100,000 copies, distributed on Thursdays and Fridays, at a rate of 25,000 copies per week.

He is at the origin of the sales of the Military Museums[6][7] of Royan and Avranches which he will take care of setting up.

In 2019, Xavier Aiolfi was chosen to be the curator of the traveling exhibition "They're Coming!" celebrating the 75t} anniversary of the Normandy landings in a new scenography under a 1,200 square meter tent.[8]

French resident in Germany since 2007, he will leave this prestigious auction house to create in 2011 his own structure: "Aiolfi G.b.r".

Since then, his company has organized dozens of auctions of military objects and historical memorabilia in France, Belgium or Spain, including those of very prestigious collections such as: William Theffo,[9][10][11] Daniel Porret,[12] André Souyris-Rolland, Kenneth Lewis and Billebault du Chaffaut.

His company is frequently consulted in the specific field of personal objects and historical souvenirs that belonged to personalities of the 1920s. This specificity even extends to automobiles. He is at the origin of the sale of Mussolini's[13][14][15] or of Erich Honecker.[16][17]

Aiolfi G.b.r  is also known as a company specialized in the auction of museum structures. Thus, it is at the origin of the sale of the Museum of Quinéville Quinéville,[18] of the Museum "Spain in the War" of Bilbao, of the Lua error in Module:Wikibase at line 40: attempt to index field 'wikibase' (a nil value). (Q109037360),[19][20] of the reserves of the Historical Center of the D-Day Paratroopers[21][22], as well as part of the collection of objects and vehicles of the reserve of the collection d’objets et véhicules,[23] Museum Leloup of Falaise.[24][25], museum of "ligne KW" in Chaumont-Gistoux in Belgium (collections Jean-Pierre Chantrain), World war 2 museum of Tosny in Eure, France (collection Jean Erisay).

Author and historian[edit]

Passionate about the historical and military history of the first half of the 20th century, in general, and of Vichy France, in particular, he participated in numerous works on the subject.

In 1997, he realized with Louis-Sampion Bouglione the first historical CD on the king of Naples Joachim Murat: Parlez-leur de leurs gloires.

In 2008 he published Après tout je ne suis qu’un homme. Napoléon intime[31][32] published by SPE Barthelemy.

In 2011, he publishes with Robby Wilson, Jordan Winter and Paul Sack Exotische Vol. 2: French Kepis of the Twentieth Century.[33][34]

In 2019, he publishes "75 objects of the Normandy landing" from the Bertrand Paris collections at Memorabilia editions.

In 2021, he publishes "J’étais Soldat de Napoléon. 200 ans, 200 objets", by Vincent Bourgeot et Xavier Aiolfi published by L’esprit du Temps.

Xavier Aiolfi participates in many historical documentaries and programs including L'Encombrant Monsieur Pétain,[38]La Montagne d’Hitler: Les Traces Cachées[39] or Les Derniers Secrets d’Hitler[40][41] In 2019 are broadcast the reports "Fuhrerbunker, les dernières archives"[42] and " 1940, les secrets de l'Armistice"[43][44]".

Collector[edit]

With a great-grandfather on his mother's side who was a collector of arms and armor from the High Period, he began his collection at the age of ten. He inherited the passion of his uncle, Philippe Fayolle, which was further amplified by his godfather, Richard de Filippi, a well-known collector on the Parisian market.

He has also been fascinated by French cinema from the 1930s to the 1980s since he was very young.
