XinFin (XDC Network) is an open-source blockchain platform optimized for international trade and finance.[4] Founded in 2017 by Atul Khekade and Ritesh Kakkad, and launched in June 2019 by the XinFin Foundation in Singapore, it uses a hybrid model blending public transparency with private data control.[1] The network employs a Delegated Proof of Stake (XDPoS) consensus mechanism, supporting 2-second transaction times and up to 2000 transactions per second.[4][3] XinFin is Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM)-compatible, enabling smart contracts.[5]
The platform focuses on trade finance, using asset tokenization to reduce costs and processing times for small and medium enterprises (SMEs).[1][4][6] As of April 2025, XDC has a circulating supply of 12.305 billion and a total supply cap of 37.705 billion.[7]
Legislative Contributions
In 2023, XDC Trade Network Pte Ltd and XinFin Fintech Pte Ltd submitted evidence to the UK Parliament supporting the Electronic Trade Documents Bill, which aimed to grant electronic trade documents legal equivalence to paper-based documents.[8][9] Their submission proposed using the XDC Network to digitise trade documents, leveraging blockchain-based verifiable credentials and smart contracts, with interoperability aligned to the Model Law on Electronic Transferable Records (MLETR).[8]
