Xu Yiyang (Chinese: 徐艺洋; born September 12, 1997), is a Chinese singer. She is best known for competing in Produce Camp 2020. She debuted as a soloist on July 16, 2020 with her debut digital single, "Listen".
Early Life[edit]
Xu Yiyang was born on September 12, 1997 in Sichuan, China. She move to Korea when she was seventeen years-old.
Career[edit]
2016–2018: SMROOKIES[edit]
On September 19, 2016, Yiyang was revealed as the newest member of the trainee group SMROOKIES, alongside Ningning.[1]
That year, she participated in the "Who's the Best?" segment of My SMT alongside fellow SMROOKIES members Hina, Koeun, and Ningning.
In September 2018, Yiyang announced via her Weibo account that she had left SM Entertainment.[2] In October 2018, it was reported that she had signed with L.TAO Entertainment, a company founded by former EXO member Tao.[3]
2018–2020: Legal High, Produce Camp 2020[edit]
In October 2018, she became a contestant on the Chinese survival show The Next Top Bang. She was eliminated in episode 3, however, was brought back in episode 8. She ranked 7th in the finale, hence debuting as a member of the girl group Legal High.[4]
On March 11, 2020, Yiyang announced via her Weibo account that she will participate in the survival show Produce Camp 2020.[5] She was eliminated in the episode 10, after ranking 8th[6]
On July 6, Yiyang opened a personal Instagram account and later announced that she will be making a solo debut.[7] Her debut digital single, "Listen", was released on July 16.[8]
