YAPms [jæpɪmɛs] is an online application and nonpartisan political website used to create and share political maps.[1] "YAPms" is an abbreviation for the site's full name, "Yet Another Political Map Simulator."[2] It features political maps from over 20 countries.

YAPms can also be found on other platforms, including Twitter, Reddit, and Discord. Its subreddit and discord server are frequently used by users of the site to share their maps with other users.

It was developed by FishStudio, an app developer that also created Zippy Fish.[3] YAPms was previously available on Google Play, but it was removed on Saturday, November 16, 2019.[4]

In 2021, Alexa ranked YAPms as the 43,316th most-visited website in the United States.[5]

Website features[edit]

Map simulator[edit]

The map simulator is the main focus of the website, as advertised in the title. It offers map templates from over 20 countries, half of which include multiple maps. It offers over 50 maps exclusively from the United States, including historical election maps, state legislatures, upcoming elections, and Congress.

News source[edit]

YAPNews, or "Yet Another Political News Source" is a news aggregator that automatically publishes statements, proceedings, and schedules of the President and Congress of the United States. These articles are pulled from Whitehouse.gov[6] and Congress.gov[7]. Users are also permitted to submit articles to YAPNews.

Mock government[edit]

Similar to the map simulator and news source, "Yet Another Political Mock Government" is abbreviated to YAPmg.[8] It is used to simulate the United States Federal Government and certain state governors. It manages its own economic and political systems. YAPmg is available on Discord to anyone who registers using a Google Form. It is also available on NationStates.
