Yair Hochner is an Israeli director and cinematographer.

Biography

Yair Hochner was born in Kfar Sava in Israel. Yair Hochner is the artistic director of the TLVFest, the Tel Aviv International LGBT Film Festival since co-founding it in 2006. In 2005 he released "Good Children" – the first film by Hochner, which he wrote, produced and directed. The film, which stars Daniel Efrat, Yuval Raz and Nili Tzruya, describes the routine life of Manny and Tal, Tel Aviv escort boys who fall in love with each other. The film has participated in some 40 festivals around the world, including various awards, including the Birthright of the Year Award at the prestigious New York and Los Angeles Film Festivals, and the Best Film Award in Montreal.

In 2008, his second feature film was published as a director and scriptwriter. The film was accepted to the Venice Festival and was chosen for the official selection of the Quirky Lion Competition.

In 2008, the film "Fucking Different Tel Aviv" was released, consisting of several short films. Among them, "Left and Right Bench" directed by Hochner and starring Avital Barak, Liat Akta and Gila Goldstein. The film was chosen to be the opening film of the 2008 Beijing International Film Festival, and the official choice Berlin International Festival - Panorama Frame 2009.

In 2017, Hochner announced his resignation as director of the TLVFest gay film festival, regaining a position of artistic director.
