Yamagata Prefecture Gokoku Shrine is a Shinto shrine located in Japan. It is a Beppyo shrine, or a shrine that is particularly notable in a certain way with a significant history to it. It was founded in 1868, and is located in Yamagata Prefecture.[1] It is a Gokoku Shrine, or a shrine dedicated to war dead. Such shrines were made to serve to enshrine the war dead, and they were all considered "branches" of Yasukuni Shrine. They were renamed from Shokonsha in 1939.[2]
