Yamaha Seahopper
The Yamaha Seahopper is a one-design sailing dinghy first presented by Yamaha in 1976:[1]. The class was popular in Japan but only sparsely known outside Japan.
The construction and specifications are much like the Laser dinghy. The Seahopper came with three different rig sizes: normal, SR, and mini[2]. The mast is divided into 4 parts.
Seahopper SR (smaller sail) and Seahopper (full rig) have been used widely in national Japanese contests during the 90s and 00s. Seahopper SR is now replaced by Laser Radial for the women's class. Laser and Seahopper have been competing side by side in the adult men's class.[3][circular reference]. 10,000 Seahoppers were produced from 1976 to 1986, and today approximately 13,800 Seahoppers have been produced.

Specifications[4]:
- Length: 4.24 meter
- Width: 1.44 meter
- Weight (hull): 61 kg
- Weight (total): 84 kg
- Sail area: 7.7 m2
The class is organized in the Japan Seahopper Association. The class rules are available in Japanese on the class website[5].
