Yan St-Pierre
Yan St-Pierre is an expert and consultant on terrorism, extremism, security policy and climate activism. In 2013, he co-founded the Modern Security Consulting Group MOSECON GmbH, where he works as CEO. MOSECON GmbH advises various actors around the world in the field of counter-terrorism.
Education[edit]
Yan St-Pierre began studying political science at the Université de Montréal in Canada in 1997. In 2002, he successfully completed his studies with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. Yan St-Pierre took a break from his studies between 1998 and 2000. He then continued his academic career and studied political science at the Université Paris 7-Denis Diderot in Paris, France, from 2004 to 2005, where he obtained his Maîtrise.
Career[edit]
Since 2007, Yan St-Pierre has been a speaker and guest lecturer at a variety of events and educational institutions, where he shares his experience and expertise in counter-terrorism and security issues.
Yan St-Pierre has been an established commentator on terrorism and security issues in international media, such as the New York Times, ARD and Le Monde since 2013.
In 2013, Yan St-Pierre also co-founded the Modern Security Consulting Group MOSECON GmbH, where he has been CEO ever since. The company has its headquarters in Berlin and another office in Lagos, Nigeria, and specializes in security consultancy, particularly in the field of counter-terrorism and access protection (hostile vehicle mitigation), as well as socio-political violence and risk assessment.
In total, Yan St-Pierre has over twenty-five years of expertise in the field of counter-terrorism. He has contributed his expertise to various counter-terrorism research projects and analyses.
In 2024, Yan St-Pierre co-authored as a security expert the handbook “Zufahrtsschutz für die Praxis”, published by the Verband für Sicherheitstechnik e.V. in January 2024. His chapter focuses on the evolution and trends of hostile vehicle attacks (HVA).
Modern Security Consulting Group MOSECON GmbH[edit]
MOSECON GmbH’s services include consultancy in the areas of terrorism, extremism, political violence, private military companies (PMC), security policy, public security (access protection and hostile vehicle mitigation) and climate activism. They are mostly active in Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
In the development of security strategies, MOSECON GmbH works together with various security actors, which enables a holistic consulting approach. The company pays particular attention to pooling all available resources in order to coordinate various security aspects, which Yan St-Pierre describes as a decisive step in the fight against terror.
Commitments and personal interests[edit]
Yan St-Pierre works on a voluntary basis to support victims of terrorism in the aftermath of an attack. As part of this, he supports and advises various organizations with the aim of improving state assistance for victims of terrorism in the long term. He uses his expertise to promote guidelines for raising awareness of the needs of victims of terrorism and to actively advise on this at government level and within international initiatives.
In addition to his excellent knowledge of French, English and German, Yan St-Pierre has basic knowledge of Spanish, Italian, Arabic and Russian.
