Yang Xiangbin (November 18, 1973 –), female, from Xiping Town, Datong County, Shanxi Province, the People's Republic of China, is the "Female Christ" and "Almighty God" of the Organization of Eastern Lightning. In 2000, the Church of Almighty God was attacked by the Chinese government. Zhao Weishan, the high priest of God, lives in exile in the United States[1].
Introduction
Yang Xiangbin failed the college entrance examination around 1990. She was severely stimulated and suffered from mental illness. She was later brought to the church to believe in Jesus. After that, she joined the "The Shouters" gathering. During this period, she met Zhao Weishan, the backbone of the "The Shouters" at the time, and lived with him. They got married on December 8, 1993, in Kaifeng, Henan. On July 7, 1995, Yang Xiangbin gave birth to a son, Zhao Ming[2][3].
In the summer of 1993, Zhao Weishan convened a gathering of believers in Ruyang, Henan, used "mythology" to promote Yang Xiangbin as the "one true god," and began to vigorously "package" the woman[4]. After that, the main gathering activity of believers was to read "the latest mythology" and listen to “God’s” “sermon recordings.”
Due to the strict organizational system of the "Almighty God" cult and the church system of single-line contact, believers are isolated from the outside world and are spiritually controlled by the teachings of "Almighty God". Some believers do not understand the organizational structure of the "Almighty God" and the true circumstances of Zhao Weishan and Yang Xiangbin, while some believers at the grassroots level do not know Zhao Weishan and Yang Xiangbin; they just follow others to "preach," "believe in religion," and worship the "female Christ." Most believers believe that the "female Christ" does not exist and is just a fictional character. Yang Xiangbin does not "show up" and talks about "myths" behind her back, which also adds to the mystery of the "female Christ"[5].
