XiXi Yang (born February 16, 1989) is an American television personality. She anchored "Live From the Red Carpet" for the Associated Press and is an entertainment contributor to CNN/HLN Network. She is the co-founder and CEO of XYZ Media.
Early life[edit]
Born in Nanjing, China, Yang is fluent in Mandarin and Japanese. She grew up in China and Japan, before coming to America at the age of nine. She attributes her outgoing personality to her childhood experience of living in multiple countries.
In 2007, she graduated from North Allegheny Senior High School and entered New York University, studying mass media communications. In 2010, she transferred to the University of California Los Angeles.

In 2008, Yang started her hosting career as the VJ / host for Dance Music Television, airing on channel 18 in Westchester, NY. She covered street festivals, concerts, and events, along with interviewing various artists and entertainers in the New York City area. In 2012-2013, Yang made a series of appearances hosting E! News[1]. Now for NBCUniversal.
Associated Press Global Entertainment Correspondent (AP Live)[edit]
In 2015, Yang became the Associated Press entertainment correspondent for the global news agency’s live stream for awards season, covering the Grammys, Academy Awards, the Screen Actor's Guild Awards, and more[2]. Yang has interviewed notable celebrities and public figures like Oprah, Ariana Grande, Kim Kardashian, Brad Pitt, Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez, and more. Yang anchored "Live From the Red Carpet" for Associated Press Live, bringing millions of viewers around the world live coverage of the following:

In 2016, Yang became a weekly entertainment contributor/commentator to CNN and the network's spin-off channel HLN. Yang is currently a regular fixture on flagship shows like CNN Newsroom, The Daily Share, Across America, Morning Express with Robin Meade, Weekend Express, and True Crime Live.
XYZ Media[edit]
In 2018, XiXi Yang Co-Founded XYZ Media[4], for which she was named a Top Media Entrepreneur by Yahoo! Finance. In a 2021 interview with Forbes, Yang says she launched XYZ Media to “amplify diverse voices” She served as the host and executive producer of Pop News Edition, a network focused on diverse and in-depth pop culture news from a global perspective[5]
Yang’s interviews and stories for Pop News Edition have made been featured on TMZ, KTLA, Sky TV, HLN, MTV, BET, and more.
Other Ventures[edit]
Yang launched her official website called “Life With XiXi Yang”, dedicated to “girls who want to create their own future.” Yang’s website serves as a digital platform for entrepreneurship advice, fashion tips and life hacks.
In 2021, Yang collaborated with global beauty brand BH Cosmetics in launching “Lunar New Year: 2021 Edit” makeup collection[6] As the first Chinese American influencer to partner with a beauty brand for Lunar New Year collection, Yang said she “knew it was important to bring on an all-Asian team to work on the collection because representation is equally as important behind-the-scenes.”
Advocacy[edit]
In a Forbes interview[7], Yang reflects that her career journey of being the first American journalist of Asian descent to anchor the red carpets live has inspired her to “advocate for more representation of AAPI both in front of and behind the camera.”
Yang’s statements advocating for more members of the AAPI communities to speak up in regards to the rise in anti-Asian hate crimes has been featured in Forbes, The Hill[8], Entertainment Tonight[9] and FOX LA[10]. In an interview with Rolling Stone[11], Yang credits social media for pressuring mainstream media, authorities and federal institutions to amplify anti-Asian hate crimes, saying “By posting and sharing graphic videos and photos documenting anti-Asian hate crimes, we are dismantling the harmful ‘model minority’ stereotype while educating others on what it’s like to be Asian American today.”
