Yaniv Rotem is a reserve IDF officer with the rank of Brigadier General who served as the head of the Research and Development (R&D) Unit at the Directorate of Defence Research & Development (DDR&D).

Biography
Rotem, born in Petah Tikva to Yitzhak and Michaela, enlisted in the IDF in 1991 as part of the Academic Reserve program. He served in various field and staff positions in the field of electronic warfare in the Air Force. In 2005, he transferred to DDR&D and held several positions, including Head of the Electronic Warfare Branch, Head of the Systems Department in the R&D Unit, and Head of the Low Layer Department in the Homa Directorate. In 2018, he was promoted to the rank of Brigadier General and appointed Head of the Research and Development Division in DDR&D.
He holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Tel Aviv University, a master's degree in business administration from Tel Aviv University, a master's degree in electrical engineering from Tel Aviv University, and a master's degree in political science and national security from the National Defense College.
He is married to Chen (a certified public accountant), and they have three daughters.
