Yankuba Darboe
Yankuba Darboe (born on 18 February 1965) in Salikenni, Badibu, well-known as CG Darboe,[1] is a Gambian economist and public administrator. He is currently serving as the Commissioner General of The Gambia Revenue Authority (GRA)[1] [2]
CG Darboe also served as Chairman of the West African Tax Administration Forum (WATAF). [3]
Education
Yankuba Darboe holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics and International Development Studies from Saint Mary's University [4], Canada (1999), and an MBA in Finance from Webster University[4], USA (2007).
He completed programs at Duke University [1] and the University of Connecticut.
Career
Darboe's served as Deputy Commissioner General and Head of the Customs & Excise Department before being appointed as Commissioner General of The Gambia Revenue Authority (GRA).[5] [6] [7] [8] [9] [10]
Darboe also served as the Chairperson of the West African Tax Administration Forum (WATAF)[3] and is a current Council member of the same organization. [11]
Awards and Recognition
- World No Tobacco Day Award (2024): Presented by the World Health Organization for GRA's role in tobacco control policies.[12]
- Heroes Award Person of the Year: Recognized for notable contributions to society.[13]
- LEADS Africa Award (2022): Honored by the League of African Development Students for quality leadership and revenue collection performance.
- Prestigious Most Outstanding Performing Institution Award under the leadership of Hon. Darboe. [14]
