Yarmouk FM - YU FM (In Arabic: يرموك إف إم) is the first university radio station in Jordan and represents Yarmouk University. the station established in 2006 through collaboration with Western Kentucky University and Internews Networks of America,[1]
As one of the oldest community radio stations in the country, it has partnered with organizations such as UNESCO on projects including volunteer training,[2] and has participated in projects that cover refugee life, such as a program called "'Syrians among us'".[3] In 2014, YU FM lunched The Syrian Hour radio show to enhance access to information and freedom of expression for Syrian refugees in Jordan.[4]
In 2024, Yarmouk FM received the Royal Silver Jubilee Medal from King Abdullah II of Jordan, in recognition of its role in serving the local community.[5]
YU FM has consistently relied on media students to produce and present its daily and weekly programs.[6] The station broadcasts on 105.7 FM.[7]
