Yasin Şöhret (born 13 June 1986) is a Turkish engineer, scientist and writer who works in the field of aviation at the Suleyman Demirel University.[1]
Educational Background[edit]
He graduated from Eskişehir Osmangazi University with a Bachelor in Mechanical engineering in 2010. After graduation, he received his master's degree in 2013 and his doctorate degree in 2017 from Anadolu University in the field of Airframe and Powerplant Engine Maintenance.[2]
Career[edit]
Şöhret began his academic career as a lecturer in Süleyman Demirel University in 2016 before completing his doctorate. After which he received degrees of assistant professorship and then associate professorship in Süleyman Demirel University School of Civil Aviation, respectively in 2017 and 2018.[3] Şöhret became a part of the Transportation and Communications Forum as an academic expert, working with the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure in contributing to future targets of the aviation industry in Turkey.[4] In 2021, he was selected to join the editorial board of the International Journal of Turbo & Jet-Engines.[5]
Since 2023 he has been representing Turkey in Montreal in the International Civil Aviation Organization Committee on Aviation Environmental Protection as a member of the Impacts and Science Group.[6] Together with graduate students and colleagues at the Suleyman Demirel University, Şöhret researches on electric and hybrid propulsion systems for UAVs such as Akıncı-B produced by Baykar or TAI Anka-3 produced by Turkish Aerospace Industries.[7][8]
He has been involved in Turkish business administration in airline and ground management.[9]
Awards and Recognition.[edit]
In 2017 Şöhret received the SARES young scientist of the year award.[10]
In 2020 he was received the Most Cited Scientist Award in the youth category from the Süleyman Demirel University.[11]
In 2022 and 2023 he was listed among the 2% most influential scientists in the world by Elsevier and Stanford University.[12][13]
