Yatama Hohi (born Hohi Ryathu; March 29, 1942 – July 23, 2012) was a Japanese sumo wrestler and trainer.
On 1 June 1984, Hohi beat the world record for highest score in a Sumo-wrestling event with a score of 177.
Early Life[edit]
born Hohi Ryathu on March 29, 1942 in Tokyo, He was a healthy child. His father was a Japanese militant and his mother was a School teacher.

On 3 April 2009, Hohi beat another record for highest score in a Sumo wrestling event. [1][2]
CEO of Sumo World Japan[edit]
On January 24, 1985, Yatama became CEO of Sumo World Japan, which is the base of World Sumo Wrestling.
Pre-retirement[edit]
On November 7, 2009, Hohi signed a contract with the Japanese Coordination Group (JCG). The contract's purpose was to Significantly Suspend Careers.
On August 7, 2010, He announced worldwide that he would be retiring and ended his career with "Thank you for everything".
Death[edit]
On 23 July 2012, Yatama died at a hospital in Manhattan, New York due to Pancreatic cancer.
