'Yavuz Selim Silay (born 18 July, 1975) is a Turkish medical researcher, Physician Entrepreneur, and Venture Architect.[1] He is the chairman of Istanbul Consulting Group,[2] managing partner at NTR TV, Ankara Turkey[3], and the CEO of MaQasid.[4][5] Between 2001-2003 he was the recipient of the young investigator award by Baylor College of Medicine, Houston Texas, United States.[6]
Early Life and Education
Silay was born in Istanbul, Turkey. He earned his MD from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Ankara, Turkey. He completed his internship at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas, United States. This was followed by a research training at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, and an Executive MBA at the Olin Business School at Washington University in St. Louis.[7]
Career
Silay is a Medical Doctor, Angel Investor and Philanthropist, with multi-sector business experience, including healthcare, finance and energy sectors. He specializes in pharmaceutical and medical device portfolio management, laboratory management, R&D center accreditation and management.
He is the founder and co-founder of Istanbul Consulting Group (ICG) and BioCube Istanbul respectively.[8] Silay is a member of the Turkish badminton federation health council.[9]
Achievements and Awards
Silay is serving as the Director, Market Access and Health Policy for AIFD, and also provides guidance to Turkish Ministry of Health through a World Bank assisted project. He was the vice president of Medical Affairs Neurology in New Jersey, United States, and previously responsible for the Parkinson’s disease Investigator Initiated Trials.[10]
Maqasid Angel Investor Network (MAIN), which he founded, has invested USD$350,000 in about 60 companies and startups in the areas of health, technology, energy, education and e-commerce.[11][12][13]
Television and Radio network, NTR TV, of which he is the managing partner, is broadcasting to 900 million people in 42 countries via satellite in English and French. In addition, he is also an executive director of Tivi6, which broadcasts to 84 million people in Turkey.[14]
Yavuz Selim Silay published eighteen research works while affiliated with Baylor College of Medicine and other places[15][16]. He was the recipient of the young investigator award by Baylor College Medicine, Houston Texas, United States.[17]
Personal Life
Silay is married and has three children (two girls and one boy). He speaks multiple languages, including English, German,[18] and Turkish.
