Kang Yeosang (Korean: 강여상; born June 15th, 1999), known mononymously as Yeosang, is a South Korean singer and dancer. He debuted as a member of boy group Ateez, formed by KQ Entertainment, in 2018.[1]

Early life

Kang Yeosang was born June 15, 1999, in Pohang, Gyeongsangbuk-do, South Korea. Yeosang has an older sister and during his interview for Esquire Korea, he said that the two of them got into a lot of trouble as children.[2] His family moved to Incheon while he was in elementary school.[3]

Yeosang attended IB Music Academy and was signed to Big Hit Music (then called "Big Hit Entertainment") as a trainee.[4] He left Big Hit before 2017. Around that time, six different agencies reportedly contacted him. Between the six, he chose KQ and signed with them and was the sixth member to join the group that is now Ateez.[5]

Career

2017: Pre-debut

In 2017, Yeosang auditioned for the JTBC survival reality show Mix Nine, along with the rest of the Ateez members, but didn't make it onto the show.[6]

He was introduced as a member of the pre-debut group "KQ Fellaz" along with seven others, all of whom are now part of Ateez. During the pre-debut reality show KQ Fellaz American Training, he helped write lyrics for the song titled "From".[7]

2018–present: Debut and solo activities

On October 24, 2018, Yeosang officially debuted as a lead dancer, vocalist, and visual of KQ Entertainment's first boy group, "Ateez" with the debut album Treasure EP.1: All to Zero.[1]

On February 19, 2021, it was confirmed that Yeosang, along with Weeekly's Jihan and WEi's Kim Yo Han, would be the new MCs for the SBS MTV show The Show. He made his first appearance as an MC on the March 2, 2021 broadcast.[8][9] From January 25, 2022 to March 14, 2023 he hosted with Cravity's Kang Min-hee and Kep1er's Kim Chae-hyun, and from March 28, 2023 to March 5, 2024 he hosted with WayV's Xiaojun, Tempest's Hyeongseop, and AB61X's Jeon Woong.[10][11] Yeosang's three years on Season 6 of the show made him the longest running host by the time his final episode aired on March 5, 2024.[12][13]

Yeosang has contributed to Ateez's discography. In 2023, he co-wrote the song "It's You" with bandmates Wooyoung and San which appeared on the album The World EP.Fin: Will. In July 2025, Yeosang released his first solo song "Legacy," which he co-wrote, as part of the Ateez album Golden Hour: Part.3 'In Your Fantasy Edition'.[14]

Yeosang has appeared on numerous shows both as part of Ateez, but also in smaller groups and most recently on his own. He was a featured guest on 8 Faces, which aired on February 4, 2025.[15] His solo appearance on LeoJ Makeup aired on August 7, 2025 and he appeared on Eat Ramen, which aired on November 21.[16][17] His first solo photoshoot for a magazine happened in April 2025 and was featured in the May issue of Esquire Korea.[18]

On July 10, 2025, Yeosang announced that he had renewed his contract with KQ Entertainment for another seven years along with the rest of Ateez.[19]

Artistry and public image

Yeosang is active on Instagram, Fromm, and TokToq. He has also hosted two gaming lives on YouTube. The first one took place on February 17, 2024. Yeosang played Fall Guys with fans.[20] His second gaming live happened on November 13, 2025 where he played Goose Goose Duck, Oh Deer, and League of Legends with his fans.[21][22][23] Yeosang's fans are called Yeodoongies.

Yeosang speaks very softly, smoothly, and politely, without any noticeable dialect. He also has a lisp, especially on S sounds, which he pronounces more like a TH sound.[3] He has a hand tremor which impacts his ability to write, take pictures and videos.

Yeosang is big on skin care and taught the rest of Ateez which sheet masks to use.[24] He has a birthmark next to one of his eyes that is often covered with makeup on stage.

Magazine features

Yeosang had his first solo magazine feature in Esquire Korea in the May 2025 issue.[18][25] The theme of the eight-page spread was Doberman.[26] He also recorded an interview, a behind-the-scenes, and three dance challenges for them.[27][2][28]

Philanthropy

In 2020, Yeosang and Mingi participated in Naver Audio’s Star Bookstore, a project where celebrities narrate fairy tale books and provide listeners with a chance to sponsor less fortunate children through the Happy Bean Foundation. Yeosang's recording of 박박 바가지 was released on August 31.[29][30]

Yeosang became an ambassador for the "Polished Man" campaign on September 14, 2020 along with the rest of Ateez.[31][32][33] They raised over $12,000 in 24 hours and as of July 2021, the funds amassed through this collaboration with Polished Man have surpassed $30,000.[34]

On March 28, 2025, Yeosang contributed to the ₩100 million (US$FXConvert/Wordify error: cannot parse value "Undefined year "2023"") donated by Ateez to the Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association to support forest fire victims.[35]
