Yogi B

Tamil Rap genre music has been in existence from 1990s and Yogi B is said to be one of the pioneer of Tamil Rap music [1] [2]. Yogi B was part of the Malaysian Hip hop music multi-lingual band called Poetic Ammo (Started in 1993 [3]) [4] [5]. Yogi B stormed into Indian cinema music through the song "Engeyum Eppodhum" from the Movie Polladhavan (2007 film) a Dhanush starrer and directed by award winning indian movie director Vetrimaaran. He wrote the lyrics for the Rap part for that song and performed it along with the legendary Tamil singer S. P. Balasubrahmanyam.

Malaysian Tamil Rappers

Yogi B is quoted as the "Godfather of Tamil Rap Music", that makes Malaysia the birth place of Tamil Rap music.[6]
