Yone Kyi Yar
Yone Kyi Yar Knowledge Propagation Society
Organization History
Yone Kyi Yar Knowledge Propagation Society[1] was founded in July 2011 by university senior students and other intellectual youth at Mandalay. Its main activities were a weekly book club, discussion session, and capacity building training. Yone Kyi Yar[2] members decided to set up a free public library and training center at the end of 2013. Then, they rented a building in Mandalay and started their activities such as a free public library, guest speaker talks, book club, and capacity building training. They have operated their organization by receiving local community donations before April 2014, and the NED grant. They are running their free public library [3] mostly by local community donation funds still now. Yone Kyi Yar[4] won the “Citizen of Burma Special Award”[5], selected and awarded by USA and foreign-based Myanmar citizen-led network for the 2018 year.
