Young African Leaders Forum

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

The Young African Leaders Forum, largely known as YALF, is the official publisher of Africa's first youth-led development journal, Young African Leaders Journal of Development (YALJOD). The organisation was established with a major objective to effectuate sustainable development in every nation, community within the African continent. It achieves this by carrying out investigative researches about African states proclivities, empowering young people, promoting human rights and eradicating educational inequity in the continent. Co-founded by the Nigerian social activist, Prince Ifoh, the South-African headquartered nongovernmental organisation has intervened in many issues of women and youth abuse, including the 2016-17 Zimbabwe protests against former President Robert Mugabe.

YALJOD[edit]

The Young African Leaders Journal of Development is a biennial publication of the Young African Leaders Forum established in 2015 to host youth-led scholarly analysis and competing views about the development problems and possible solutions of the continent. The journal provides a platform for Africa's young people to contribute immensely to policy making and implementation processes.

In October 2016, YALF partnered with the African Union (AU) to publish and launch the maiden edition of YALJOD at the African Union headquarters, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Hosting twenty two researches of young people, the journal is available in different libraries, and communities within the globe, including in one of America's reputable public university, Kennesaw State University.

Every two years, the Executive Council of the organisation calls for paper for the publication of the historical journal of development, which has started creating positive changes in rural Zambia after an idea noted in the journal has been implemented. The latest call for paper was made open on Youth Opportunities in 2017.

Projects[edit]

As a pan-African organisation, YALF leaders hold diverse summits, training annually within different regions of the African continent in pursuance of the visions and goals of the African Union Agenda 2063 and the Sustainable Development Goals. The organisation and its diaspora offices in Canada and United States are especially keen on the dictates of the Ezulwini Consensus. Through a well-planned UNSC-campaign, it continually pushes for the reform of the United Nations - stating that Africa is part of the international community and her diverse range of problems of conflicts and insecurities deserve to have permanent representation on the UN Security Council.

The organisation also holds an annual city-wide campaign against tuberculosis in Africa. This adds to its women empowerment and computer support initiatives for rural inhabitants.
