Young Jo Lee

Young Jo Lee (born 1943) is a composer from Rep. of Korea, second son of the composer Heung-Ryul Lee (1909 - 1980). He studied at at Yonsei University in Seoul/ Rep. of Korea and at the Munich University of Music and Performing Arts/ Germany. His teachers have been Carl Orff and Wilhelm Killmayer. He then studied at the American Conservatory of Music in Chicago, where he completed his D.M.A. and subsequently he taught as a professor. In 1994, he returned to South Korea where he became a professor and the director of the Korean National University of Arts and was appointed chairman of the Korean Symphony Orchestra's board of directors.
