YourTime TV is a social media television network owned by British company Interactive Media House.[1] It was launched in January 2019 by journalist and entrepreneur Fardad Farahzad.[2][3] It is the world's first decentralized TV Channel. Users can upload their videos on the channel's website, book available time slots and broadcast them on satellite. The channel is available free to air on satellite to viewers in Europe and Middle East as well as on multiple IPTV and live streaming platforms worldwide. The channel is mainly aimed at Persian speakers, although there is no language restriction.
Reception[edit]
YourTime TV has been both praised and criticized for its stance on freedom of speech. The channel does not censor or moderate users' content, except for copyright violation and illegal content. In June 2021, Reza Haghighatnejad, an editor at IranWire criticized the channel in a tweet for allowing his former fired and disgraced colleague to air a weekly show. The tweet was later deleted. In a 2019 interview YourTime TV founder, Fardad Farahzad said "Some fear maximum freedom because they do not trust the people and think someone should always be in control; whether in economy, civil liberties, or the media. I do not have that fear. The more freedom, the better." In reponse to concerns about the spread of fake news he added, "There are people out there who believe the earth is flat, it's not my job to convince them otherwise. I leave it to the viewers to decide what is fake and what is not."[4]
Services[edit]
In 2021 the channel added a live broadcast feature for a selected number of content producers. The feature is not available to wider public.
