History[edit]

The band was formed in June 2020 when Dani B needed a guitarist for his jam project and got in touch with Vinicius Andrade with whom he had recently collaborated. Instead of recording some jamming material, Dani sent Vinícius a demo version of his song "Monochromia" which Vinicius was happy to work on. After finishing the first rough version of the song the two decided to collaborate further on the demo version of "Passage". Despite a troubled start to the recording sessions (to Monochromia in particular) they ended up being successful and the two members decided to continue writing more songs together and eventually form the band.

HANA went through many different stages and formats. It was originally meant to be a demo EP consisting of 4 or 5 songs but due to prolific songwriting from both members of the band, the project was then planned to become a double-sided demo album titled "Spring" and "Fall". This idea was later dropped for a full-length LP format and the project received its first official working title "Blossom". Blossom, however, was short-lived and was soon replaced with Hana which would eventually remain as the album's official release title. Hana in Japanese means flower.

Stylistically the album focuses heavily on funk-rock as well as some jazz, metal, and electronica.

The album spawned 4 singles: Cheesecake Tapes, Passage, Monochromia, and Plumas Negras before the LP was fully released on digital platforms on June 10th, 2022.

Musical Styles and Influences[edit]

Yttrium's sound is heavily based on funk-rock mostly inspired by the Red Hot Chili Peppers who have greatly influenced both Dani and Vini's playing but elements of metal, jazz, electronica, and lo-fi are also incorporated into their music.
