Yulia Tulegenova is a Russian artist, art critic, literary critic, and film producer. She specializes in producing thrillers, dramas, crime films, and short films.[1] A graduate of the Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography (VGIK) and the University of Florida, she combines theoretical training with practical work as a visual artist and media professional.

Education

Tulegenova graduated from the Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography (VGIK) in Moscow, one of Russia's leading film schools. She later studied at the University of Florida in the United States, which has informed her international approach to art and media.[1]

Career

Film Production

As a film producer, Tulegenova focuses on short film formats, with a particular interest in the genres of drama, thriller, and crime. In 2013, she produced the film Kitty, reflecting her engagement with artistic and industrial film projects.[2]

Art and Literary Criticism

Tulegenova works as an editor and author of in-depth cultural and literary reviews. She has contributed to Russian publications, including LitFM[3], God Literatury (Year of Literature)[4], and God Kino (Year of Cinema)[5], as well as international platforms.

Artistic Practice and Exhibitions

In addition to her work in criticism, Tulegenova is an active visual artist. In June 2024, her work was featured in the "What Is Art | 7th Edition" group exhibition at the Boomer Gallery in London, which included art critic Tabish Khan as a guest of honour.[13]

She is also involved in educational initiatives, organizing events in English for teenagers (ages 12–17).[1]
