Yusef DuBois Jackson (born in 1970) is a lawyer, businessman, community leader, and advocate from Chicago, Illinois.

Early life and education[edit]

He is the youngest son of Jacqueline Lavinia Brown Jackson and civil rights leader Rev. Jesse Jackson. He was raised in Chicago along with his siblings Jesse Jr., Santita, Jonathan, and Jacqueline.[1]

Career[edit]

Yusef Jackson began his professional career in corporate law at the law firm of Mayer, Brown, and Platt[2]. In 1998, he moved into the beverage distribution industry, acquiring the Chicago-based River North Sales & Service[3]. Under his leadership, the company effectively diversified its portfolio of brands and products, and doubled both its sales and profits. After 15 years as CEO, Yusef led the company through a successful acquisition, creating the largest Anheuser-Busch distributorship in Illinois[4].

In 2006, Yusef ventured into the media business, acquiring niche pop culture media company Radar Magazine[5]. Over the next three years, he built a team of talented writers and successfully transitioned the magazine from print to an online publication.

He is a member of the Economic Club of Chicago, the Chicago Bar Association, and the National Bar Association, serves as a Director of the Board for the Children´s Choir of Chicago and on the Board of Trustees for the Virginia Athletics Foundation.

Community Service[edit]

Throughout most of his life, Yusef has worked alongside his family to support their social justice, civil rights, and community service efforts through organizations including Operation PUSH (People United to Serve Humanity), Rainbow PUSH Coalition, and the Jackson Legacy Foundation (JLF). The Foundation is dedicated to supporting organizations that fight for equitable access to education, arts, and athletics; promote equality; and, nurture young people who work to advance themselves, their community, and justice and compassion in the world.
