Yushania elevata is a species of bamboo in the grass family, belonging to the genus Yushania within the tribe Arundinarieae.[1][2] Yushania elevata was first described by T.P. Yi in 1986, based on material collected in Tengchong County, Yunnan, China.[3]

It is a relatively tall species in the genus, with culms reaching 4 to 7 metres in height and 1.4 to 6 centimetres in diameter, bearing 8 to 20 solid or nearly solid branches per node.[4] The culm sheaths are persistent or gradually deciduous, leathery to cartilaginous, and densely covered in yellow-brown woolly setae.[4]

The species is assigned to Yushania sect. Brevipaniculatae on the basis of its tall stature and multi-branched nodes.[2] A 2021 taxonomic revision by Ye, Zhang, and Li concluded that Yushania gigantea T.P. Yi & L. Yang (2014) falls within the range of morphological variation of Y. elevata and is therefore a taxonomic synonym of the earlier name.[4]
